REVIEW: CENTANNI

The Monster has Centanni all to himself.  Four people working, one person eating, and an annoying Sting song as background music.  The space itself is a bit of a hodgepodge, design elements mix and match rustic, mid-century and plain old ugly.

In an effort to kick off 2012 in a healthy fashion The Monster skips over all the pastas that he desperately wants and gets himself a cup of pasta e fagioli soup and some chicken piccata with a side of broccoli.

But damn that lobster ravioli sounds good.  Some arrabiata would be dreamy.  Chicken parm would most certainly be a resounding yes.

Alas, not in the cards.  So as The Monster waits on his food he is tortured by the blackboard and all those deliciously unhealthy specials.

Somehow, the music gets worse.  Is this fucking Bob Denver?  And not even the one good Bob Denver song.

The soup is as boring as pasta e fagioli is.  And then Styx comes on.  Seriously?  Centanni wins the award for worst restaurant music.  It’s a stunning achievement of bad taste.

As for the food, well chicken piccata and broccoli isn’t terribly exciting as it stands and Centanni…is this Over The Rainbow?  It is Over The Rainbow. Holy fuck.

Why go?  You’re a bad music whore.

Boring eh! I’ll make you a pasta ai fagioli that will knock your socks off!
What if you ask for a child’s portion of pasta, just so you can review it, and then act like the kid stood you up? That way you can do your monster thang and still keep in line with your resolution.
