REVIEW: INDIA SWEET HOUSE

India Sweet House gives new meaning to utilitarian.  It’s ugly cafeteria chic done Indian style.  Since 1981 (making this an absolute institution) India Sweet House has been an order at the counter vegetarian food and sweet shop catering to those looking for delicious food who don’t get caught up in appearances (or terribly friendly service for that matter).

As the kitchen is closed and The Monster has already had dinner he heads to ISH for some of their unique desserts.

Halwa: Gajar is carrot, milk and sugar served as a cake. Yum.  Kaju Masala are spicy cashews.  Wonderful.  Halwa: Habshi is caramelized milk and sugar.  Yep.  Almond burfi (squares of almond candy) is the favorite.

Date night this is not unless you’re version is making certain a second date is not in the cards but as a night-cap this is the kind of place that scores brownie points of cool.

Why go?  Because The Colors Of Indian Cooking (http://www.thecolorsofindiancooking.com) isn’t based out of LA.
