The place to grub up for breakfast in Los Gatos is this unassuming cafe as evidenced by the long waits (hungry!) on a Sunday morning. While there are other choices (the near empty Hobees which the dolt at our hotel recommended) this is where you’ll undoubtedly end up.
Don’t expect fancy, don’t expect much room and don’t expect intimate conversation. What can you expect?
A huge menu of delights that can satisfy the breakfast aficionado as well as those who really want lunch at 8 am. Choices like a fajita soufflé omelette with either flank steak or chicken with onion, bell pepper and jack cheese topped with guacamole, sour cream and salsa or a Mexican Flag with herb potatoes topped with jack and cheddar, guac, sour cream and salsa all served over black bean chili give you an inkling of the hearty (heart attack inducing) meal that awaits.
The Monster settles on the Papas Santa Cruz featuring herb potatoes topped with chicken, jack and cheddar, guac and fresh tomato served with a bakery item (a cranberry pumpkin muffin) as well as a side of crab cakes.
Everything is greasy, buttery, cheesy goodness. You will not feel healthy after eating at the Los Gatos Cafe but you sure will feel full.
Service is efficient in this no atmosphere, cash only joint.
Why go? When you look down your stomach obscures your feet.
