On a seedy side street filled with trash in New Dehli’s thrilling old quarter is the famous haunt, Karim’s. You may feel like you’ve entered the last place you’ll ever eat but this spot is renowned for its authentic Mughlai cuisine and low prices. In fact, we’re the only Caucasians in the place.
Breakfast consists of naan and vegetables. It tastes all the better because you’re eating it in a spot that isn’t in a fancy hotel or tourist trap. Karim’s is well known for there meats, mutton and chicken kabobs specifically so if you come later in the day those are your best bets.
Like any place in Delhi you won’t be drinking the water or eating raw vegetables but you will get an honest sense of everyday life in this fascinating city.
The cooking (surely not the ambiance) has been keeping patrons coming for over one hundred years. A must stop on one’s visit.
Why go? You’re a traveler, not a tourist.
