In a city of good to great Italian why is The Monster at C&O Trattoria? And even worse, at the location furthest from the ocean?
There is no good reason. None whatsoever. The famed garlic knots are hard and oily. Granted they still get eaten. The service is certainly friendly but does that really matter?
Still, The Monster is here. He must order something he’ll surely think is overpriced and wish he were at a million other places including Eddie’s down the street.
So he gets fire grilled Tuscan chicken with roasted red peppers, artichoke hearts, and sundried tomatoes with garlic butter white wine sauce atop fettuccine.
As he waits the clubby music only seems to annoy him. The patrons cooing over their food do even worse.
Why is The Monster here? What went wrong today? Who hates The Monster?
Because the food is surely not great. And it’s not exactly cheap. Oh, oh, oh! The portion is big! Woohoo. More mediocre food!
You can’t really taste garlic or wine in the gloopy sauce. The pasta is limpid. The accompaniment tasteless.
Then The Monster remembers why he is here. They have a parking lot at C&O and he is feeling lazy.
Why go? Parking.
