REVIEW: FISHERMAN’S OUTLET

You want all manner of fish. You want it fried. Chargrilled.  Salmon. Shrimp. Maybe some lobster. Chowder is a must. Also some fries. And slaw.  You want to come in a t-shirt and flip flops and sit at a picnic table and eat from paper plates. And you want it to be delicious.  Oh, and you need, you desperately need buttery, garlicky goodness.

Welcome to the organized chaos that is Fisherman’s Outlet.

This downtown stalwart is known equally for its incredibly fresh fish and its absurdly crowded and near impossible to navigate “lines.”

You’ll walk in and the crush of people and the shouts of the employees will assault your senses.  You’ll wend your way through the crowd as you peruse the menu. You’ll make it to the front wedged in between a hungry family and some office workers who need to get in and out quickly.  You might take an elbow to the ribs.  You might push an elderly woman out of the way. You shout out your order hoping, praying someone is listening.

Somewhere you’ll pay.  And wait.  And a few minutes later your food will arrive as if delivered from Poseidon.

You’ll find a seat amidst the crowded tables and decorum be damned you will go to town ripping apart your food, your face slathered in that too good to be true garlic sauce. You’ll douse your fries with it.  You’ll promise it a lifetime of happiness if only it will never run dry.

Shrimp and salmon and fries and slaw and chowder don’t stand a chance against your superhero powers of consumption.

And then, content, you will rub your belly and smile fully.  For you have feasted from the sea of deliciousness.

Why go?  Seafood.
