REVIEW: BARDENAY

IMG_6822

On the Basque Block is Bardenay (sailor term for cocktails) a restaurant and distillery serving up Northwest inspired food and drink.  This is the first restaurant in the US with the ability to create handcrafted liquor on-site.  This is going to be a boozy lunch.

Sitting outside on the patio (so hot, shade not much help) The Monster peruses the menuRed curry and turmeric marinated chicken breast skewers with hoisin-peanut dipping sauce sound about right as do chili and citrus marinated shrimp skewers with honey, cilantro, lime and chili dipping sauce.  To drink, a mojito.

As for the entrée, a charbroiled Thai turkey burger with marinated cucumber and red onion, shredded lettuce and sliced tomato, ginger and sesame aioli, on a grilled Kaiser roll is the call.  Light lunch this is not.

So, The Monster sweats a bunch.  He orders another drink (not really sure what it is, it’s alcohol so it is good) and sweats some more.  Maybe sitting outside in Hades inferno is the wrong choice.  Oh, inside is so cool and lovely when The Monster goes in to check it out.  Will not make this mistake again.

The skewers come and they are pretty standard issue.  With a huge menu of treats not sure if they would be the call again but if you’re a skewer fan you won’t be disappointed.

The turkey burger is straight up rocking.  Juicy, ton of flavor, served with some nice slaw.  Big portion, didn’t really need the appetizer after all.

Tempted to order another drink but instead The Monster decides he’ll hold off for the next stop.

At Bardenay you’ll find friendly service, a ton of options on the menu and drink program sure to please.
